So it seems we have identified the spider.  She is an Argiope aurantia or Yellow Garden Spider.    You can read more about her here.

I was also intrigued by the very intricate design in the middle of the web.  It’s called the stabilimentum, and you can read more about it here.  Fascinating stuff.

It was really quite beautiful today.  Living out here in the sticks can be quite nice, especially on quiet mornings when we can sit out on the lanai and listen to the birds and watch them interact.

We got to see something really cool this afternoon – four buzzards ripping apart a dead squirrel (at least, I assume it was dead prior to being ripped) in the space between our house and the one next door.  Cool!

Then I spent an hour at Kmart this afternoon wasting my time.  Don’t even get me started on it.

After that I took one of my free movie tickets to the theatre to see 21.   I had read the book on which it was based, Bringing Down The House, and really enjoyed it.  The movie was pretty good.

Now I’m home and it’s late and someone needs to get dinner started.  Hope your Saturday was wonderful!
