Michael Jackson shot to stardom when I was an impressionable pre-teen, and sure, I enjoyed his music back then. Thriller was sort of the soundtrack to junior high for most people my age.

In the last decade or so, MJ became a caricature.  He descended deeply into eccentricity, and there are things he’s been accused of that have definitely tainted my image of him.

I don’t really care that he’s dead.  He’s been dead to me for a long time.

I realize that my opinion doesn’t matter (well, except here, since it’s my blog) but I will be happy when all of the “shock” wears off and we can all talk about something else.

  1. Hey, have you seen this news article?
New details about Michael Jackson’s Death Emerge
I was wondering if you were going to blog about this…

  2. FINALLY! Neverland Ranch is a town over from me and while my whole family got into the groove of Michael Jackson, I never did. I feel bad for his family indeed but he was never an idol so I dont really understand what the world is feeling right now. If he really did molest those kids, I cant imagine how they are feeling, knowing that the world loves him and his music more than their innocense!

  3. I had pretty much the same reaction. Thanks for blogging what I was thinking. I’m glad I don’t listen to the radio, watch tv, or…well, participate in any kind of mass-media herd-instinct stuff. I’m sure it’s been nothing by MJ-this and MJ-that for the past several days. I’m quite happy without.

  4. I think the sad part is the media reviled him for years and then he dies suddenly and he’s their idol – or that people waited for him to die before rushing out to buy his CD’s. I find it all quite creepy.
